"Never Gonna Fall in Love Once more" is a song co-written and recorded by American pop rock creative person Eric Carmen. It was released every bit the 2d unmarried from Carmen'south self-titled debut solo album, the song peaked at number 11 on the Us Billboard Hot 100 nautical chart in June 1976, remaining in the Top 40 for 10 weeks.[i] The song reached number one on the Billboard Easy Listening chart. The melody of "Never Gonna Fall in Dearest Again" is based on the third move (Adagio) from Symphony No. 2 by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.
On his second solo LP, Boats Against the Electric current, Carmen had a subsequent Top forty hit entitled "She Did It", a happy reply to the loneliness and lovelessness described in this song and its every bit melancholy predecessor, "All By Myself".
Television performance [edit]
Carmen performed "Never Gonna Autumn in Love Once more" and his prior hit, "All By Myself" on The Midnight Special television program on July 23, 1976 (season 4, episode 37). The show was hosted past The Spinners.[4]

Australian singer songwriter Marking Holden recorded and released a version Apr 1976 equally his debut single. The vocal was a commercial success, peaking at number 13 on the Kent Music Report.[12] [xiii]
Background and release [edit]
Mark Holden released his debut studio anthology Dawn in Darkness in 1975. Consisting entirely of original songs, the album was a commercial failure, selling approximately ii,000 copies[14] In April 1976 Holden received a call from Colin Petersen, EMI Music Australia's A&R, who suggested he cover "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again". In his 2022 autobiography, Holden said recording it "was a chance for me to take a hitting". Holden promoted the vocal by performing the track on Countdown, where he performed the rails while handing out red carnations to the audience. It became an infamous performance which led to Holden's nickname of "The Carnation Kid"[15]

Unlike "All past Myself," Carmen'due south version of "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" was not released in Commonwealth of australia and therefore did not chart. Still, Dana reached #31 in the U.k. in 1976 with the song.[16] Her British release charted concurrently with Carmen's and Holden's versions.
Other versions [edit]
- Frank Sinatra performed the song many times in concert in the late 1970s, most notably during the 1976 MDA Telethon. Addicted of Eric Carmen's songs, he had arrangements made of both this song and "All By Myself." He never recorded either song.
- Tony Burrows covered the song in 1976 with the studio group Magic.
- Spanish vocalizer Miguel Bosé too covered information technology (in English) in his debut LP Linda in 1977.
- John Travolta covered the vocal in 1978.
- Tommy Folio covered the song on his 1991 album From the Heart.
